Strategic Projects on Critical Raw Materials – European Parliament Lunch Event
On 30 June 2025, Eurometaux hosted a lunch event at the European Parliament in Brussels, kindly supported by MEP Hildegard Bentele. The event brought together representatives from the metals industry, EU institutions, and other stakeholders to showcase Strategic Projects on Critical Raw Materials (CRMs) and discuss the opportunities and challenges in their implementation.
The session featured presentations of projects developed to the highest environmental standards, underlining their role in securing Europe’s sustainable supply of critical raw materials and achieving the 2030 Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) targets.
Discussions focused on:
-
Turning Strategy into Action: How strategic project status can deliver benefits such as shorter permitting processes, support through a Single Point of Contact, and assistance in accessing funding opportunities.
-
Overcoming Remaining Barriers: Addressing high capital expenditure costs and ensuring predictable demand for critical materials to strengthen EU resilience and support industrial competitiveness.
We thank MEP Hildegard Bentele for hosting and Joan Canton from the European Commission for contributing to the discussion on the future of Europe’s raw materials value chains.
